In alignment with the University Strategic Roadmap’s focus on experiential learning and career readiness, the Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) is pleased to invite applicants from the Twin Cities for the 2026-2027 Community-Engaged Learning and Teaching (CELT) Fellowship.
This initiative provides faculty with the deep pedagogical support and co-design time necessary to integrate career-ready, community-engaged learning (CEL) into the curriculum. We are particularly seeking to support faculty from departments currently underrepresented in our CEL landscape, though applications from all departments are welcome.
The CELT Fellowship Model
The CELT Fellowship is designed for CEL projects that require a sustained, iterative environment to ensure academic rigor and community impact:
- Community of Practice (CoP): Faculty will participate in 8 monthly, ~90-minute in-person meetings over the Fall and Spring semesters. Community partners will join one meeting per semester.
- Faculty-Partner Connections: The program provides targeted assistance for faculty who do not yet have a community partner to help facilitate new collaborations; however, we also strongly encourage and welcome applications from faculty who already have an established partner but have not previously collaborated on community-engaged learning.
- Phased Milestones: Funding is tied to the development of partnership agreements, syllabus drafts, and assessment plans.
- Community Expertise: Experienced community partners will serve as paid consultants to help shape research goals and shared outcomes from the ground up.
Fellowship Support
This program provides $1,500 to faculty over time as milestones are completed, with $500 of that going to the community partner in alignment with best practices for equitable university-community collaborations.
- Total Faculty Stipend: $1,000 (Phased upon milestone completion)
- Community Partner Consultant Stipend: $500
- The Match: We request that departments or colleges commit $500 to cover the community partner consultant stipend, with the Office for Public Engagement covering the $1,000 faculty stipend.
How to Apply
We encourage you to submit your application for this opportunity to build immersive, community-engaged learning courses for a Fall 2027 launch. Deadline: Please submit your application by August 1st.
